Rooftop lounge Mandrake has finally joined the nightlife scene in Central Ohio. Perched 10 stories up at 808 N. High St., the new concept from the owner of building-mate TownHall made its debut last week.

Mandrake Rooftop is changing the way Columbus will view a rooftop restaurant and lounge concept. 

​Located in the heart of the Short North, Mandrake offers a bevy of delectable tapa-style food, the healthiest sushi in the world, and an elevated beverage program with the most diverse wine list in the city and craft cocktails.

Initially announced in early 2020 pre-pandemic, Owner Bobby George says he wanted to get TownHall established and build the right team before adding Mandrake to the portfolio. George is also the owner of REBol in Dublin.

The rooftop bar is the tallest in the Short North and offers sweeping, 270-degree views of the Columbus skyline with a space that easily transitions from indoors to out. Seating and dinner service will shift to more of a cocktail lounge, bottle service set-up as the evenings march on.

George describes Mandrake’s food menu as having the same ethos as TownHall – organic produce, grass-fed meats and wild, low-mercury fish. Diners will see an Asian meets Mediterranean influence in Mandrake’s fare, with a lineup of shared plates like Grass-Fed Steak Tartare, Pasture Pork Bao Buns, Grilled Spanish Octopus and Watermelon Salad, and mains like Lamb Chops and Wild Whole Branzino. The menu also touts what Mandrake dubs the “world’s healthiest sushi,” with eight rolls to choose from.

In the drinks department modest cocktail and beer menus are joined by an extensive wine list, with many available by the bottle.

Mandrake will be open from 4 p.m. – 12 a.m. on Wednesday and Sunday and 4 p.m. – 2:30 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Weekend brunch will be added in the coming weeks, starting at 10 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Mandrake’s kitchen closes at 10 p.m., with plans to make sushi available until midnight, and then add in a menu of late-night bar bites.
