What to Expect
Disclaimer: This position is expected to start around January or February 2024 and continue through the entire Spring term (i.e. through May 2024) or into Spring/Summer 2024 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. Please consider before submitting an application.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team
As a member of the Visual Designer team, you will be responsible for the design development of all visual brand communications. Your team creates and executes world-class graphic design, branding, and more.
Using your considerable design experience and innovative thinking, you will be tasked with creating designs for visual brand communications, but you may also be called upon for other design tasks (photography, illustration, etc.) based on your skillset. Our design team prides itself on being multitalented and flexible, and we look for the same in our potential candidates.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and design assets for events, communications, web, marketing, sales, products, and anything else that needs graphic design work to communicate Tesla’s visual style in a creative way. This can be anything from full-on campaigns from start-to-finish or unique one-off properties.
- Some projecs will require you to work with engineers, digital modelers, architects, and other professionals within the company.
- Participate in cross-functional strategy, timing, and process discussion as it pertains to the brand and our visual design principles.
- Work cross-functionally with designers of other disciplines.
- Work with suppliers to achieve our design goals on any physical assets.
- Collaborate with the fabrication team to complete prototypes when necessary.
- Occasionally participate in design efforts outside of your area of expertise as necessity and as your own skillset dictates.
What You’ll Bring
- Pursing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design (or similar)
- Prior work experience in visual design or a related field
- Must be able to show a portfolio of work that reflects creative thinking, broad range, and modern, minimalist taste.
- Beneficial to have technical knowledge of product development as it relates to graphic design (such as printing, web and mobile app development, etc)
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud Programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, etc), and either Sketch or Figma
- Ideal candidate will have added experience in some combination of the following: Photography and retouching, 3D modeling and visualization, animation, illustration, SketchUp.
- Excellent at creating and maintaining cross-functional working relationships.
- Exceptional visual and oral communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple parallel-path projects.
- Demonstrated an ability to deliver successful designs under tight timing constraints and provide examples of such scenarios throughout career.

Expected Compensation
$20.00 – $50.00 + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
