The Human Engineering team is currently looking for a Wireless User Research Engineer to apply their technical expertise in RF technology to user research to the design and development of Apple’s wireless products. This role will support all phases of product development in the context of wireless connectivity during everyday use. They will work closely with cross-functional teams including Human Factors, Antenna Design, RF Design, Software, QA, and more. Description
Collaborate with internal and cross-functional partners in defining critical research questions to inform RF/wireless product development Identify and understand users characteristics, environments and use cases related to RF/wireless connectivity that can impact target performance metrics Design and execute user studies to quantify end-to-end RF/wireless system performance and root cause potential shortcomings Process, analyze and visualize data to formulate insights and inform product decision/trade-offs Communicate results and insights to cross functional stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience post Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related major) with experience working with RF and wireless connectivity technologies (e.g. Bluetooth, WiFi, and UWB), preferably for consumer products
- Experience with large-scale data processing and visualization using Python, R, or a similar language
- Skilled in creating and managing research plans with a focus on delivering successful research outcomes
- Experienced in working with cross-functional teams and using strong organizational and communication skills to solve technical problems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- MS or higher graduate degree preferred
- Experience with developing robust data pipeline and interactive data visualization dashboard
- Research experience on human-centered studies, human-computer interaction, or user audio perception
- Experience with building sensing/wireless/RF applications with embedded systems
- Strong statistical background, with hypothesis testing models experience to drive rigorous conclusions
- Strong grasp of the theory behind RF and wireless connectivity technologies
