The Role
Now is an amazing time to join Netflix as we seek to entertain the world. We have over 260 million paid members in over 190 countries, and we won’t stop there. We are looking for a Title Merchandising expert to join our Merchandising team and help connect amazing stories with the fans who will love them.
The Title Merchandising, Global Strategy Lead is responsible for the strategic vision of member-facing presentation of titles (series, movies, specials) on Netflix. You will be responsible for deeply understanding the logic and behavior of Netflix interfaces, and how they interact with title deliverables (artwork, AV, writing, metadata, ratings, etc) to create presentations and promotions, and strategizing how to deliver best-in-class presentations for a variety of title types. You will create playbooks and guidelines to ensure title experiences on Netflix match their business motivation and member needs, and work with partners around the world to ensure they evolve as necessary.
You should be comfortable at the hub of a fast-paced environment where you interface daily with cross-functional experts, and can speak comfortably in both technical and creative languages. Strategic systems-thinking and creative sensibilities are key attributes of this role. A love of entertainment is a helpful plus.
You are expected to:
- Own the strategy, rollout, and adoption of playbooks, guidelines, and standards for how Netflix presents titles in our interface using existing levers/capabilities.
- Manage the dissemination and adoption of new guidelines to regions, tracking and explanation for exceptions.
- Deeply understand the intersection of UI design, algorithmic behavior, and title setup. You will use this knowledge to build logic and behavior trackers so that we can have a clear understanding of what happens in the product experience, and when (ex: what indicators tell members what language a title is in, when a new season is coming, etc)
- Identify and evaluate new opportunities and gaps in slate behaviors and explain desired outcomes for new merchandising logic, capabilities, or processes (i.e. identify a gap, identify opportunity size of solving, propose solutions to fix, and decide if fixing justifies the investment)
- Work closely with the Performance Lead to identify key metrics to track for your title merchandising playbooks and guidelines; which insights are required to evaluate quality, success, and feedback
- Intake ongoing input and feedback from local Title Merchandisers (EMEA, LATAM, APAC, UCAN) to evolve and iterate playbooks appropriately; identify which edge cases require bespoke solutions, and which reveal a need for a new or evolved playbook.
- Partner with Catalog merchandising on key initiatives that require strong collaboration between title and slate presentations (e.g., brand-defining); provide perspective on title merchandising needs, behaviors, and goals.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Merchandising Roles or Entertainment Marketing – years of experience require working on episodic launches on digital platforms
- Deep understanding of consumer behaviors and discovery habits with entertainment, understands how those intersect with content catalog and services
- Strategic thinker with a strong customer-focused mindset and empathy
- Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive alignment amid ambiguity
- Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders of various backgrounds and effectively synthesize inputs and context into concrete recommendations and next steps, across both regional and global teams
- Comfortable applying a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to define success
- Insatiable curiosity to learn new domains, keep up with industry innovation, and constantly ask ‘why’
- Excellent written (memos and presentations) and verbal communication skills; timely communication
- Bachelor’s degree required
