Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer Systems Architect / Principal Engineer Systems Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
The Principal Engineer Systems Architect or the Sr. Principal Engineer Systems Architect will be responsible for developing system architectures, defining key capabilities and performance requirements, decomposing functionality, and defining interfaces in a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to establish architecture content and develop solutions that achieve customer intent. A successful candidate will demonstrate good communication skills, systems thinking, and the ability to capture technical design in MBSE architecture products.
This role can be filled at the Principal or Sr. Principal level based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications for the Principal Engineer Level:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university with 5 years of engineering related experience; OR a Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 3 years of experience.
Basic Qualifications for the Sr. Principal Engineer Level:
- Sr. Principal Engineer Systems Architect requires 9 years engineering related experience with a Bachelor of Science degree, OR 7 years engineering related experience with a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline
Basic Qualifications for either level:
- Ability to analyze architectures and develop MBSE views in DoDAF/UPDM or SysML
- Ability to work in a collaborative, geographically dispersed team environment
- Should have previous Systems Engineering or MBSE experience
- Should be familiar with DoDAF/UPDM, SysML, or UAF
- Must be able to obtain special programs access to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing MBSE artifacts such as behavior diagrams (activity, sequence, or state machine) and structure diagrams (block definition and internal block diagrams) in SysML, DoDAF/UPDM, or UAF
- Experience with parametric diagrams and linkage between MBSE tools and Analytical models such as Matlab.
- Experience using an MBSE tool, such as Cameo Enterprise Architecture or MagicDraw, IBM Rhapsody, PTC Integrity or Windchill Modeler, or Sparx Enterprise Architect
- Experience with Systems Engineering activities, such as functional analysis, requirements development and decomposition, interface definition, or verification
- Experience with DOORs or other requirements management tool and integration with MBSE software
- Experience with military aircraft architectures and the military aerospace design environment
- Interfacing and presenting to customers.
This position reports to Redondo Beach, CA, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 2 locations listed above.
Salary Range: $101,400 USD – $152,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $125,800 USD – $188,600 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
