Jacobs is seeking an experienced sustainability specialist with green building certification process management expertise in the built environment. As a Sustainability Specialist, you will join a highly creative, collaborative team dedicated to innovative problem solving and design excellence at Jacobs Federal West Sustainability team.
The focus of this role is a combination of technical leadership and mentorship to client team and helping client to incorporate sustainability in their existing facilities projects and their supporting documents. This position requires minimum two (2) days to work from client’s campus in Redondo Beach and three (3) days from remote and/or Jacobs office (Irvine, Ca. or Los Angeles, Ca.) location for the duration of the specific contract. This role has a lot of learning and growth potential and provide hands-on client-side experience. It will also allow the candidate to satisfaction of being part of a ground up sustainability program for a large campus environment

Responsibilities:
- You will work under direct supervision of Jacobs Point of contact and assist POC providing guidance to Jacobs client, a world class fortune 500 company, on LEED BD+C , ,ID+C, EBOM and similar sustainability and green building solutions in client’s South California campus.
- Additionally, you will participate in daily consulting engagements that provide sustainability strategies for a wide range of client team members ranging from facility managers, planners, engineers, maintenance staff, and client sustainability team.
- You will prepare and facilitate work sessions with client teams to build consensus on sustainable solutions
- You will coordinate with client (and 3rd party design and construction when necessary) teams to provide green practices and LEED requirements guidance, green product recommendations, technical support, and certification process management.
- You will coordinate with internal Jacobs and client teams on revisions to existing document that are prepared by Jacobs for the client and prepare new documents per client request.
- You will coordinate with relevant Jacobs departments and engineers to obtain requested information, calculations, reports to support project review as well as up to date document library
- You will employ technical analysis and research, integrate with client teams to identify opportunities and elevate sustainability
- You will ensure quality control and consistency across all documents and projects
- You will identify and maintain awareness of current and emerging technologies, tools, and methods as they impact the delivery of green building design
- You will track Federal, State, and local regulations and incentives and provide guidance to the client.
- You will work in team environment as well as individually.

The base salary range for this position is $89,100 to $155,800. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations [add if remote]. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

- 5+ years of post higher-education in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of LEED and certification project management, gained directly through relevant project experience and education
- Experienced working directly with project owners and/or client teams as well as with multi-discipline project design and construction teams
- Experienced working with intense deadlines
- Significant interest in and aptitude for sustainable design, and client relationships
- Strong communication, consultant coordination and relationship management skills
- Excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Understanding of building physics, thermodynamics, and advanced building systems.
- Strong professional writing, including policy language, speaking, and technical presentation ability
- A knack for problem solving, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented working style
- Able to teach and train client teams effectively
- Innovator, ability to search, create and successfully implement new information to meet client’s needs
- A sense of humor, a spirited and friendly attitude
- Proficient user of LEED Online, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and InDesign
- Familiarity with digital collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, and willingness to learn others such as Mural and BlueBeam.
