What to Expect
Tesla’s Supplier Industrialization TLA team (Top Level Assembly – Electronics) is responsible for critical components and electronic parts top level assembly processes development and qualification activities with suppliers. Provide End-to-end product life cycle management in supply chain, from early design quality assessment with design team, sourcing decision to industrialization and quality control activities with suppliers. This position involves communicating well with internal and external teams, traveling to Camera Module suppliers in different regions, and on-the-spot critical decision making.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct and implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback into Camera Module design
- Suppliers on Time Delivery Performance, Supplier Quality Performance, Supplier Production Capacity (Operations management)
- Lead supplier improvements in scalability, cost, and quality
- Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between Suppliers and Tesla Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams
- Accountable for Camera Module supplier audits to ensure their ability to meet part performance, delivery, and reliability expectations
- Collaborate with Tesla Design, Quality, Testing, REL and Manufacturing to determine the ideal performance specifications and supplier metrics.
- Accountable for leading, tracking and improving supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changes
- Guide Camera Module suppliers in developing exceptionally robust processes and procedures to promote efficient and seamless production of conforming products
- Validate Camera Module supplier corrective actions involving design and/or process changes to ensure they are robust, sustainable, and implemented for similar potential concerns across manufacturing lines and/or suppliers
- Provide input on new or alternative materials for improved design, manufacturability, or cost reduction
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in camera module manufacturing, supply chain or mechanical engineering, electronic parts or top level assembly experience
- Experienced with AA (Active Alignment) TLA (top level assembly) and EOL (end of line testing)
- BS Degree in Electrical / Optical / Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering or evidence of experience and exceptional ability
- Practical experience of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design For Assembly (DFA)
- Solid knowledge of statistical analysis tools and applications (JMP/Minitab)
- Opto-Mechanical background with statistical tolerance analysis, design quality assessment, and improvement technique
- Proficient in GD&T, 3D CAD software
- Camera module Supplier development and management experience
- Domestic and international travel (expected 50% of the time) is required to engage with CMs, sometimes on short notice
- Practical 6sigma experience. DFSS experience is preferred

Expected Compensation
$80,000 – $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
