Description:
Supervisor position for Accessory Quality Dept is the middle-management leader of the Quality Team. The Supervisor is the interface between staff and management, and represents management’s position in interaction with department staff and in external negotiations. The Supervisor manages many of the day-to-day activities of the team and reporting to management.
Key Responsibilities:
- In addition to the basic responsibilities of the immediate sub-ordinate position (Sr. Engineer, Accy Quality), this position is responsible for:
- Supervision of the staff Quality Engineers and Sr. Quality Engineers to assure department policies and procedures are followed daily.
- Supervision of staff to ensure that quality department targets are met, including KPI targets
- Assignment of project responsibilities and maintenance of dept. assignment matrix
- Maintenance and upkeep of all department log files
- Planning & achievement of dept. scheduled tasks, including travel (supplier audits, factory events), project tracking (PLM/PMS), and project-related task completion (production authorization, PPAP release, RCA completion, etc.)
- Generation of in-depth reports for management, based on dept. data
- Generation of ad-hoc reports for urgent issues (incl. ‘one-page A3’ summary reports)
Key Performance Indicators:
- Supervising & Leading – providing dept. staff with oversight, support and feedback as needed on their work, tasks and adherence to dept. & company policies; timely, thorough and accurate reporting to management of dept. issues (25%)
- Accuracy – ensuring that dept. work of staff is reviewed, corrected and recurrence of issues is prevented through robust improvements (15%)
- Completion of Engineer KPIs – supporting dept. staff in completing their KPIs of 1) on-time PPAP readiness, 2) supplier quality, and 3) defect part analysis (30%)
- Continuing Education – completion of assigned & elective training (10%)
- Business Intangibles – ensuring that business objectives are reached, through clear & concise communication, effective time and resource management and 5S principles (20%)
Work Schedule & Travel Requirements:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (some flexibility & telecommuting allowed); rarely Sat or Sun work is required.
- Travel (up to 40%) within N. America and international
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) is required.
Experience Requirements:
- 7-10 years of experience in quality-related professional-level position, working within automotive or aerospace OEM environment.
- 2-3 years conducting IATF-level quality audits, either internal or external.
- Deep experience with common Quality concepts, incl. IATF 16949 auditing, QMS, CAR/RCAs, 8D, 5Why.
- Deep experience with common manufacturing processes, incl. injection molding, thermoforming, extrusion, die casting, forging, welding assembly & kit packing.
- Deep experience with spreadsheets and presentation
- Microsoft Office Excel Specialist certification or equivalent level of skill
- Microsoft Office PowerPoint Specialist certification or equivalent level of skill
Skills:
- Independence, internally motivated
- Ability to read a technical drawing; experience with GD&T a plus
- English communication skills; Korean speaking/writing a plus
- Basic computer skills, including email, scheduling, etc.
- Knowledge of automotive assemblies, parts, manufacturing processes, etc.
- Familiarity with common hand tools, power tools, etc. used in automotive repair
