What to Expect
GA Pilot Engineering for readying General Assembly lines for Model Changes.
What You’ll Do
- Understand current production process and assembly line limitations to identify design constraints and opportunities for improvement and feed that information to design teams
- Understand equipment constraints and work with both Equipment and Design Engineers to find optimal solutions that reduce the need for equipment changes while maximizing part design improvements
- Ensure new part designs are Designed for Assembly and work with Design, Manufacturing and NPI to find optimal solutions
- Review all Change Actions effecting GA and give approval feedback in a timely manner
- Disseminate product information and requests for changes on the line to both the Pilot team and other related teams
- Ensure processes provide a high level of safety and ergonomic compliance
- Actively participate in offline and online trials to identify issues of safety, quality and rate and implement fixes for future builds
- Raise and track progress of MRTs to document issues and drive fixes
- Verify design and NPI releases are correct and are set up to support assembly operations. Feedback to relevant teams any misses
- Identify tooling and equipment needs and work with relevant teams to make sure timing is met
- Work with other team within manufacturing to share information in a timely manner so everyone can meet required timing for trials and launch
What You’ll Bring
- BS degree in ME, EE, CE or equivalent
- Previous manufacturing or vehicle assembly experience
- Able to navigate in Catia
- Hands-on skills with hardware, tools, instruments, general electromechanical systems, measurement techniques
- Experience with ergonomic process design, part variation control, and human factors effects on product
- Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within a vehicle assembly and engineering organization. This includes excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and email
- Strong problem solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly
- Exceptional capacity for managing simultaneous activities and challenges
- Creative capacity for developing new ways to do things better, cheaper, faster in alignment with the aggressive Tesla approach to revolutionary product development

Expected Compensation
$76,000 – $240,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
