JOB SUMMARY:

Hill York seeks a Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. The Staff Accountant assists the finance team by compiling and analyzing financial information including revenue, cost of sales, expenses, margins and balance sheet items. This person will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial data, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and providing valuable insights to drive financial decision making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintains financial records by preparing, collecting and posting monthly journal entries in both the general ledger and job cost system in accordance with GAAP, SOX, and Company accounting policies and procedures.
• Prepares bank account, Inter-Company and other balance sheet account reconciliations
• Assists Controller and CFO with monthly closing procedures through preparation and validation of company financial records and statements.
• Assist with financial analyses needed by other team members.
• Responsible for proper accruals, reserves, and review of trial balances to ensure accuracy, integrity, and GAAP compliance.
• Prepare and approve various Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Reconcile accounts, identify discrepancies, and propose corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant financial data and provide insights.
• Support external audit activities by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Develop and maintain documentation of accounting processes and procedures.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the accounting function.
• Stay updated on accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Special projects and other finance related activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to work full time in office to facilitate real-time collaboration
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (complex formulas, large datasets, VLOOKUP, PivotTables, etc.)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
