The Disney Experiences (DX) Technology team combines custom technology solutions with creativity to produce robust applications that enhance all aspects of the guest experience. From one of the most sophisticated hotel reservation systems in the world to Disney Cruise Line shipboard systems, Disney Vacation Club member services, ticketing, PhotoPass, and even inventory applications to ensure we have the right number of Cast costumes. DX Technology seeks forward-thinking team members who are passionate about delivering a quality product and enjoy working closely with business partners on both strategic and tactical challenges.
This Engineer will be expected to play multiple critical roles for DX in regard to creation, implementation, and support of new IoT, Computer Vision and RF installations. This Engineer will work with business partners to perform site walks, work on installation recommendations, hardware layout, sustainment planning, and oversee installation. This includes tuning, configuration, and field support for each of these components to ensure success.
As part of the IoT installation, this Engineer will need to be able to help troubleshoot and navigate network issues at multiple layers with multiple teams managing the network equipment and firewalls. The Engineer should be able to troubleshoot these issues as part of installation and support. They should be able to understand and advise on basic topics from multiple disciplines of engineering.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- A minimum of 5 years of related work experience
- Expert level knowledge of computer vision and lidar sensor systems.
- Expertise in managing, troubleshooting, and optimizing electrical, mechanical, and sensor systems.
- Ability to configure and calibrate hardware parameters to ensure optimal performance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems operations and maintenance.
- Familiarity with sensor technology, calibration, and diagnostics.
- Ability to design monitoring workflows, and interpret performance data from electrical, mechanical, and sensor systems.
- Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues across electrical, mechanical, and sensor domains.
- Knowledge of wired and wireless communication protocols that link sensors and devices.
- Expert level knowledge of standard TCP / UDP network protocols and implementations.
- Ability to design a replicable and extensible deployment model based on individual application needs.
- Ability to design, maintain, and optimize on-prem infrastructure layouts.
- Strong technical writing skills and documentation for service technicians.
- Experience with monitoring tools designed for electrical and mechanical systems and sensors.
- Ability to set up and refine alerts for system anomalies.
- Understanding of security protocols for hardware systems, ensuring data integrity and protection against unauthorized physical and non-physical access.
- Expertise with version control systems, especially for device firmware or embedded software.
- Provide detailed input on requirements for the design and implementation of cloud based systems as they pertain to the on-prem device networks.
- Readiness to be on-call for emergencies, addressing system failures, or malfunctions outside standard working hours.
- Serve as escalation contact from a holistic ecosystem level with a full understanding of the usage and end product delivered from systems in their domain.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
