What to Expect
Tesla is seeking experienced senior robotic engineers to join the team in Elgin. The team in Elgin is responsible for building custom machines for various Tesla manufacturing facilities.
The Robotics Engineer will have extensive theoretical and hands-on experience in all facets of robotic applications used in Manufacturing, as well as experience managing new product introductions, equipment projects (new installations) and process optimization, upgrades & modifications. Experience with multiple robot brands is desired.
What You’ll Do
- Responsible for designing/selecting robotic systems.
- Creating simulations and offline programs with Fanuc RoboGuide or Siemens Process Simulate.
- Advanced robot programming including DCS.
- Develop custom robot application code to interface with new technologies.
- Managing your time working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Develop procedures and maintain proper documentation related to robotics systems.
- Proficient in converting 3D models to use in simulation software.
What You’ll Bring
- BS in Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years extensive experience Robotic programming and applications.
- Excellent robotic high level and background programming skills on Fanuc, KUKA, ABB or equivalent brands.
- Hands on experience commissioning and programming industrial robots
- Robotic mechanical and electrical trouble shooting skills.
- Experience with Robot simulation packages as well as off-line programing using RoboGuide or Process Simulate.
- Experience with robot-based vison systems (IR Vision)
- Virtual commissioning experience of a robotics system is a plus.
- Experience on robotics applications such as Spot Weld, Stud Weld, Adhesive, Self-Piercing Rivet, Vision, Arc Weld, roll hemming is a plus.
- Some PLC programming knowledge is required.
- Experience with other vision systems (Keyence or Cognex)
- Experience in Automotive industries is a plus.
