What to Expect
We’re looking for a highly motivated senior leader to build world class manufacturing teams and lead overall operations at Gigafactory New York. You will be responsible for meeting the production forecast and ensuring company goals are achieved. The ideal candidate will have a track record of significant achievements, tremendous drive, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves.
Gigafactory New York is at the heart of Tesla’s solar initiatives and manufactures infinitely scalable clean energy generation and storage products – [1] solar panels, [2] Solar Roof, the [3] Powerwall home battery, and the [4] Powerpack battery system for commercial and utility-scale sites. These products make use of the most sustainable energy source: the sun.
What You’ll Do
- Responsible for all operations, including production, maintenance, engineering, and future projects at Gigafactory New York
- Drive manufacturing team to achieve established targets for daily going rate and
- on-time shipments
- Development and continuous improvement of key shop metrics
- Define site objectives to meet business plans, capacity & headcount targets, and key performance indicators
- Maintain high product quality and manufacturing yield
- Ensure optimal use of resources and adherence to best safety practices
- Conduct analysis and prepare reports on projects and process improvements
- Interact with quality management team to correct, contain, and resolve vehicle quality concerns
- Ensure appropriate preventative maintenance systems are in place and appropriate actions are taken to maintain the facility in good operating condition
- Make countermeasures for timely completion of project goals
- Support new product and material introductions. Interact with design team to coordinate new model launches
- Create process plans, bid packages, and project specifications
- Procure equipment, track budget costs, and project schedules
- Coordinate with suppliers and cross functional teams to improve and meet goals.
- Ensure consistency in standards and documentation. Monitor and ensure compliance
- Support and manage continuous improvement activities in safety, environmental, quality, cost, efficiency, and productivity objectives
- Enforce proper material management procedures
What You’ll Bring
- STEM degree or equivalent experience
- 10 years management experience, 8+ years management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience with process improvement methodologies to optimize efficiency and throughput
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines
- In-depth understanding of mechanical and standardized processes
- Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical assembly environment
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- A strong sense of urgency and commitment to ship product
