You are responsible for planning and controlling of the engineering maintenance of the architectural, structural, civil, building elements, furniture and fitments. You are also responsible to lead a team of building trade maintenance staff to oversee and ensure compliance with the engineering maintenance quality standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and direct maintenance programs on Building Works and Finishes such as Architectural, Structural, Civil, Building Elements, Furniture and Fitments.
- Provide a specialist resource for investigation of difficult technical problems, particularly where supplier information and support are lacking.
- Prepare reliability analysis, failure investigations and incident reports.
- Handle all claims and licensing matters.
- Study, propose and implement works to improve the building finishes with the objective of providing better services and reducing operating cost.
- Coordinate repair and improvement works with contractors, consultants and the relevant authorities. Provide technical support for all specifications, inspections, testing and commissioning, and acceptance activities related to building construction projects.
- Coordinate and implement Quality Assurance programs to improve the efficiency of the services provided.
- Responsible for career planning/self-development of supervised technical staff.
- Conduct predictive, preventive and breakdown maintenance. Responsible for budgeting and cost control.
- Responsible for condemnation and commissioning of new facilities and equipment.
- Responsible for the building maintenance operation, implementation of projects including life-cycle, technical specification writing, evaluations and reliability analysis.
- Liaise with relevant authorities and external parties. Take charge of licensing, invoices, utilities, insurance matters, etc.
- Preparation of master maintenance programs, revision of procedures/checklists and documentation.
- Propose and implement works to constantly improve service level and reduce cost.
- Troubleshoot and solve difficult problems.
- Train and provide technical guidance to subordinates.
- Supervision of contracted services.
- Manage and motivate a team of technical staff.
- Ensure compliance with the Singapore Standards, Code of Practice, Hospital’s IQEHS, JCI, ISO and any other Statutory Requirements and management system.
- Provide in-house consultancy services.
- Implement CQI projects.
- Provides specialist input into education and training programs in the operating of the facilities.
- Actively participate as a member or team lead for quality improvement projects at Hospital-wide / Departmental level.
- Work Instructions and Quality Procedures for the department operation processes as well as training and equipping staff to carry out their work correctly, safely and conscientiously.
- Promote a working environment of collegiality and effective teamwork.
- Any other duties as assigned by Head of Department/Deputy Director, Facilities Engineering.
Requirements
- Preferably Bachelor in Engineering / Architectural + 10 years in similar capacity or Diploma in Building / Architectural / Engineering + 15 years in similar capacity
- Those with LEW, MOM or FSM License will have an added advantage
- Possess good oral and written communication skills
