Software Applications Development Engineer- Contract

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Assist project technical lead for planning, developing, tracking, implementing environment setup and application release.
• Assist team in technical requirements gathering, application environment design/implementation/improvements, review, and support.
• Perform required tasks to setup and application environment by working with the relevant teams to install, configure and deploy the application components.
• Contribute to developing automation or operational scripts to improve the deployment and maintenance of the application.
• Collaborate with cross-functional interface teams on application interface setup for both online and batch file transfer integration.
• Provide support to testing team to ensure the readiness and availability of the system testing environment including performance testing
• Contribute to application security, vulnerability and performance reviews including proposing remediation actions for identified issues
• Assist team in investigation application issues reported by application users in the whole lifecycle of the application.
• Prepare and maintain documentation which will include but is not limited to environment specifications, infrastructure setup guide, batch runbooks and monitoring specifications adhering to organizational templates, policies and standards.

Skills & requirements

Qualifications

• Experience in scripting languages for Windows Batch, PowerShell, Visual Basic, Unix/Linux Shell scripts where candidate must be able to understand, enhance or develop new scripts based on these scripting languages.
• Experience in Java programming language and concepts to navigate the application source codes and able to understand the application flow and logic.
• Experience in Windows platform to support application installation, configuration, and permissions.
• Experience in working with Java Application server such as WebSphere Application Server or similar technologies.
• Experience in working with Relational Database server Microsoft SQL Server and proficient in formulating Structured Query Languages (SQL)
• Ability to appreciate application technical logs and work with respective parties to investigate issues
• Experience with a variety of source control eg. Git, SVN and development tools eg. Eclipse, Visual Studio Code
• Experience in DevOps concepts and tools eg. Build pipelines, Jenkins, SonarQube, Veracode
