We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!
This role sits in the Connected Experiences organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with Product and Design from across the company.
The Senior Software Engineer will report to the Manager-Software Engineering.
About The Role & Team:
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Connected Experiences team, you will be integral in building and enhancing the digital signage solutions that power a variety of dynamic applications across multiple venues. Our work spans venue signage, general signage, interactive wayfinding systems, and even engaging game experiences. You will focus primarily on the front-end development of these applications, with an emphasis on creating responsive, visually appealing, and high-performance user interfaces using Angular.
You will collaborate closely with a diverse, cross-functional team consisting of QA, Engineering, Product, and Design professionals. The team works in an Agile environment, where collaboration and innovation are key to delivering cutting-edge solutions.
What You’ll Do:
- May lead small projects encompassing analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based, or Internet-related computer programs
- Responsible for performing testing and debugging of applications
- Possess a proven understanding of current programming language and technologies, with strong skills in writing code and completing programming tasks
- Interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications
- Conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software components, fixes, improvements, and/or new systems and applications
- Design and develop highly scalable software systems and applications
- You will be expected to stay up to date with emerging technologies
Project Hire
- This is a(n) 24-month Project Hire position with no guarantee of permanent placement.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of related work experience
- Comfortable working in an agile environment
- Proficiency in Angular, TypeScript and NodeJS with a proactive demeanor towards continuous learning and skill development, and an interest in mastering emerging data engineering tools and methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of Angular (version 14+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3, with experience in developing complex, scalable, and responsive web applications. Familiarity with front-end frameworks, component libraries, and state management tools like NgRx or Redux is highly preferred.
- Experience in working with Java-based back-end systems (e.g., Spring Boot), including integration with RESTful APIs and understanding of the overall full-stack architecture. Ability to collaborate with backend engineers to ensure smooth data flow between the front-end and back-end.
- Proven experience working within Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban), including participating in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams (QA, Engineering, Product, and Design).
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
