To:
(a) be a member of an interdisciplinary research team examining issues related to education and continual professional development in the healthcare landscape;
(b) work closely with key stakeholders in designing and conducting research studies related to health and medical education/training; manage research projects (including the supervision of junior or temporary research assistants and students) and communicate findings to academic and practitioner communities; to improve the efficacy of education/training activities in NHG and its partners.
Job Responsibilities
Research and related activities
- Communicating research findings to the local and international education community (eg through posters, presentations, symposiums, and publications)
- Designing, leading and conducting research projects to further knowledge about education and training in healthcare
- Engaging with NHG and external stakeholders to design collaborative research projects that are of mutual
- Engaging NHG stakeholders on their research needs, providing consultation and research support on research studies, analyses and education programme evaluations and initiatives
- Securing research funding through grants and other avenues for research projects
- Teaching, mentoring and supervising junior researchers, staff from other NHG institutions and students on research approaches, evaluations and projects
Strategic contributions to Group Education
- Developing rigorous research approaches and methodological expertise in Group Education’s new areas of strategic interests (eg Patient Education, Workforce transformation)
- Developing evidence-based approaches to systematic sensing and evaluation of implementation of Group Education strategic workplans
- Engaging with and enabling other teams in Group Education to develop evidence-based approaches to assessing and evaluating their work
General administration and service
- Providing administrative support wherever necessary for Group Education Research, eg., meeting proceedings, records of DSRB-related documents etc
- Contributing to the NHG health professions education community by providing service, knowledge and expertise in research wherever necessary
- Contributing to Group Education’s communications about research by helping develop content for various communication platfoms held by Group Education (eg newsletter, social media platforms)
- Contributing to Group Education’s mission and vision by providing service, knowledge and expertise in research wherever necessary
Job Requirements
- A postgraduate degree (minimum a Masters) in social sciences, communications, education, human factors, organizational behavior, psychology, or other related disciplines
- Relevant background in healthcare will be an added advantage
- Experience in conducting interdisciplinary and/ or mixed methods research
- Familiar with conceptual and methodological approaches from diverse disciplines and epistemologies
- Track record of research publications
- Self-directed learner who is intellectually curious and resourceful
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to engage with diverse range of stakeholders
- Passionate about research
- Excellent writing and analytical skills
- Team player who is also able to carry out work independently
