Job Description: Safety Specialist
Job Summary: IKM is seeking a Safety Specialist with experience in Commercial Construction and Fabrication in Madison WI.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed, and that local and OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met.
- Assist safety director in accident investigations, near misses, and OSHA investigations.
- Inspect the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of administrative controls to protect and promote employees’ health and safety and satisfy customers’ requirements.
- Conduct on-site inspections and control hazardous working conditions or unsafe employee activities through teaching and coaching.
- Liaison with employees to address concerns regarding health and safety policies.
- Track injury and incident metrics to identify trends; recommend appropriate hazard controls.
- Analyze accident reports and incident trends-based on available facts; recommend. evidence-based safety performance goals.
- Monitor driver safety.
- Assist with the application for necessary work permits as needed.
- Monitor safety training for content and completion.
- New hire safety orientation.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Prefer a minimum of 3 to 5 years construction experience in construction and fabrication safety management for large commercial and industrial projects.
- HS Diploma/Equivalency required.
- CHST or the ability to acquire within one year.
- Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company regulations.
- Must be able to handle sensitive related information in a confidential manner.
- Experience in Office 365 (Work, Excel, email)
- Interpersonal/relationship skills
- 1st Aid/CPR trained.
- Work with minimal supervision.
