This is a provisional appointment.
Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Operations, the Project Manager II will be responsible for the management of the department’s construction projects, including larger scale and highly technical projects, from the initiation of funding to the official completion and turnover of the building.
Responsibilities:
- Managing design and construction budgets, schedules and quality.
- Managing architects, engineers, consultants, contractors and their contracts.
- Supervising Clerk of the Works.
- Training of project managers.
- Assisting in designer selection, project close out.
- Working with user departments and constituents.
- Maintaining project documentation and files.
- Assisting division in improving policies and procedures.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
- At least five (5) years experience in building construction management, engineering or architecture required.
- Minimum of four (4) years experience in management, budgeting and scheduling of building construction projects preferred.
- Knowledge of construction, contract practices and knowledge of MA Building Code, general/subcontractor relations, trade customs, MA construction statues, Chapter 149 and regulations preferred.
- Experience working with permitting and oversight agencies preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem solving, written and verbal communications skills preferred.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
- Engineering or Architectural registration preferred.
- Appropriate educational substitutions may be made.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
BOSTON RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED.
