We are looking for a design-forward Architectural Designer or licensed Architect with 5-15 years of experience with exceptional design, client and project management, and communication skills to join our San Francisco or Seattle office. The right candidate will be committed to our mission; will bring compassion and curiosity to their work with a highly collaborative team; and will join us in developing design solutions that inspire people to live, work, learn, and connect in more productive and meaningful ways. Responsibilities include:
- Act as primary client contact and design lead on projects from concept, design (SD-DD) through construction (CD-CA) including preliminary design, planning and approvals.
- Direct and coordinate production of schematic, design development and construction documents in collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Planning, developing, and executing technical documentation which may include interpreting, organizing, and coordinating project team assignments.
- Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, and other vendors to meet overall project objectives.
- Perform construction administration duties (e.g.: RFI’s, submittals, bulletins, site observations, etc.).
- Execute applicable agency review analysis (accessibility, zoning, life safety, etc.).
- Direct, organize and mentor junior staff.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Professional degree from an accredited school of architecture.
- Licensed in CA or WA preferable but not required.
- 5+ years of experience in a design office [Architectural office preferred].
- LEED or similar accreditation preferred.
- Experience directing technical aspects of a project, producing construction documents, and overseeing construction administration. Strong ability to translate ideas into design.
- Experience in building codes, specifications, building, and engineering systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the design process, construction documentation, and special experience/knowledge of construction administration.
- Advanced knowledge of and experience directing technical aspects of a project, producing construction documents, and overseeing construction administration and reviewing construction documentation.
- Stellar client and team (internal, consultants and contractors) management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, communicates clearly and proactively.
- Proficiency with Revit (required), AutoCAD and other 3D modeling software [Rhino/3DS Max/Grasshopper].
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite [Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint] and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong knowledge of sustainable design principles a plus.
