THE TEAM
The Production Planning team, within Product Discovery & Promotion Operations, is focused on architecting, managing and enhancing the production workflows and partnerships that power promotional campaigns on Netflix, globally. We pair deep experience with informed curiosity to continuously challenge our and the industry’s approach to promotional experiences. This allows us to iteratively identify new opportunities for growth and remain responsive as the needs of the business evolve.
Each Production Planner has extensive experience in promotional production and a passion for creative processes. Our knowledge is rooted in the step by step details that our operationally minded team can use to effectively inform our broader business strategies. As such, we are subject matter experts with deep curiosity and meticulous attention to detail. Together, we manage expansive-scale promotional workflows, constantly challenging the status quo, and rearchitecting how we work with the unending ambition of iterative improvement.
The Production Planner role will design and lead multiple internal and external promotional workflows, initiatives, cross-functional relationships, and large-scale creative programs on behalf of the global business.
Executive Level Alignment: This senior leadership skill involves aligning the strategic vision and objectives of your work with the executive team’s priorities and decisions. It requires deep empathy and curiosity across all teams, even in the most mundane aspects of the business. This role demands extensive experience in understanding the complexities of high-level decision-making, fostering cohesive collaboration among executives, and ensuring that all leaders are unified in pursuing shared, overarching goals. This skill is crucial for navigating complex change management and is foundational to driving sustainable operational transformation.
Strategic Program Design Leadership: This competency involves the capability to identify and capitalize on opportunities, assess their business impact, and design comprehensive solutions that affect large stakeholder groups and align with company goals. It includes leading the development of broad-based solutions in collaboration with various cross-functional teams to operationalize large-scale programs that achieve significant business outcomes. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong analytical skills, and horizontal workflow knowledge. Curiosity and the ability to drive connections across multiple complex, competing priorities are essential. Experience in both direct leadership and leading teams through substantial business changes is required.
Workflow Ownership: Production Planning is responsible for the architecture and management of end-to-end workflows that enable the delivery of assets we use to promote our titles on Netflix. The Production Planner will be the informed captain and primary stakeholder for key components of our workflows, continually optimizing existing workflows and identifying new opportunities often resulting in net new ways of working.
Cross-Functional Relationship Management: Production Planning plays a pivotal role in driving impact, and establishing initiative milestones across our Product, Discovery and Promotion teams. The Production Planner should develop and maintain relationships with our Product, Operations and Engineering teams to help influence business decision making and prioritization efforts. They will be responsible for building trust and establishing authority with key partners to align on and define objectives and key results, communicating progress to key stakeholders and leaders.
Partner Leadership: To power our scale workflows we rely on world-class partnerships that can consistently deliver to our high standards of excellence. To achieve this, the Production Planner crafts and aligns exceptionally detailed scope and service level expectations for the workflows they lead. They then remain tightly aligned on partner performance in accordance with those standards, setting review cadences to align on the appropriate metrics to gauge detailed performance against each workstream and task. When necessary, the Production Planner will identify areas of opportunity to coach partners and improve performance, crafting the required training materials that can be used to strengthen the relationship and improve the work.
Measurement and Reporting: The Production Planner designs scoring and reporting frameworks against the workflows they support that draw actionable insights. The insights are used to steer our creative agency partnerships through tighter integration, continued optimization, and routing toward evolutions of our work that drive greater impact for the business as a whole.

- Direct experience designing large-scale programs and operational initiatives.
- Experience driving large programs across multiple countries with multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Experience with Post-Production and creative workflows.
- Operational management within or working with agencies. This person needs to understand the inner dynamics of how creative is built, and where negotiations (time, cost, quality) can be made.
- Experience distilling and articulating complex workflow steps and requirements in ways that stakeholders and partners can understand.
- Experience as a production buyer or producer, with an understanding of creative roles and effort for different creative deliverables. This person needs to understand how to scope the effort for both standardized and custom creative executions.
- A trained eye for discovering and identifying problem areas and net new solutions.
- An interest in branding initiatives and positioning them for success.
- Comfortability representing initiatives and leading alignment conversations with Leadership.
- Experience utilizing data and crafting metrics to measure impact.
- Experience translating third-party workflows into clear and comprehensive workflow guidelines, scopes of work (SOW), and service level agreements (SLA).
- Experience optimizing asset management systems – or similar tools to propagate and track assets or titles through an operational workflow.
- Experience building global solutions that span multiple workflows and deliverables types.
- Understand, advocate, and embody the company’s values and team goals.
Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top-of-market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $$210,000 – $500,000.

We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
