Love toys and creativity? Join our Preschool Toy Design team as an intern, working on licensed projects inspired by Disney Junior shows. You’ll help identify toy trends, brainstorm new concepts, build inspiration boards, and sketch ideas. Collaborate with the design team to guide Disney licensees and contribute to three key projects. You’ll also gain hands-on experience in the product development process, from concept to production, while working closely with internal teams and external partners. The Product Design Intern will report to the Manger, Product Design, Hardlines Preschool Toys.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with the Product Design Manager and design team on licensed Disney Consumer Products toy lines
- Participate in product approvals including creative reviews, feedback sessions, and key meetings with licensees
- Make artistic contributions to new initiatives by sketching concepts, crafting trend boards, and sharing ideas
- Monitor competitors, product innovation and market dynamics
- Research initial seasonal trends by category
- Coordinate product submissions for creative reviews and approvals with design team
- Coordinate and maintaining product and market samples
- Recommend product ideas to build and strengthen businesses
- Present concepts and project deliverables to management and internal teams
- Limited domestic travel for onsite product approval with licensees
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Solid knowledge of toy categories, specifically preschool, figures, vehicles, playsets, roleplay
- Strong drawing skills and ability to build character overlays
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, 3D software skills a plus
- Exhibits ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness
- High level understanding of manufacturing (raw materials, plastic molding, textiles, deco applications, label art)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong product design skills (e.g. 3D product design, technical design, sketching, creative application)
Education
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
- Undergraduate Senior or recent graduate (within 6 months) pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Toy Design, Industrial Design, Illustration or a related design field
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
- Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information

- Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
- This internship is a primarily on-site position and requires a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated workspace
- The approximate dates of this internship are January 2025 through June 2025
- Must be able to work FULL TIME hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship
- Able to provide own housing for the duration internship program in the Glendale, CA area
- Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
