What to Expect
The NCM BIW Tech will be responsible for supporting process sustaining and disposition of non-conforming material on the Energy Manufacturing of sub assembly components. He/She works closely with the Process Engineer(s) and Quality Engineer(s) to investigate non-conforming material, perform reworks, and drive process changes to continuously improve the operation.
What You’ll Do
- Work closely with process engineer(s) to develop assembly processes and author manufacturing instructions
- Receive, document, organize, investigate, and repair all non-conforming (NCM) material offline
- Document results of investigations and teardowns; work closely with engineers to determine root cause and define acceptable rework procedures
- Perform supporting activities for engineering and production including process testing, 5S and Lean manufacturing initiatives, root cause analysis and leading corrective action initiatives
- Report out daily on NCM activities, including scrap, rework, on hold, and new incoming failures
- Review yield and fallout data and prioritize non-conforming material according to severity and occurrence of failure modes
- Day to day coverage of production line, including rapid response to out-of-control processes
- Propose process and equipment changes to mitigate top failure causes
- Deep understanding of the entire production line and where each product failure mode originates
- Work closely with engineers and production to implement process changes on the line
- Support New Product Introduction team to implement new part changes into the line
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives
- Work with quality to process non-conforming material to be returned to a vendor
- Manage fast paced work environment with positive attitude and proactively help co-workers
- Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
- Monitor all welding processes and ensure absence of shrinkage and distortion to materials
- Manage work with help of manual welding machines and melt metals for various processes
What You’ll Bring
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment; experience in Welding processes
- Proficient with Microsoft office tools, especially Excel and Word
- Strong understanding of basic mechanical and electrical concepts
- Methodical problem-solving skills with a hands-on and proactive approach
- Ability to manipulate and interpret data, especially Pareto charts
- Ability to create flowcharts and author manufacturing instructions
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lift 30-50 lbs
- Knowledge in Fanuc Robot, WTC Weld Controller, Lincoln power source – Power Wave (Desirable)
- Knowledge in Resistance Spot Welding (RSW), GMAW MIG/MAG, Destructive Test (DT), and Nondestructive Test (DT) (Desirable)

Expected Compensation
$17.00 – $53.00/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
