What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and organized Operations Specialist to join our Used Car Operations team. Used Car Ops is an elite group that supports the seamless intake of all customer vehicles into Tesla inventory (trade-ins, leases, returns, etc.), processes all physical titles and documentation needed in order to transfer ownership, and works with numerous internal/external stakeholders to resolve any issues that arise during the vehicle transfer process.
As an Operations Specialist, your primary responsibility is to ensure a smooth ownership transfer process for Tesla customers that trade-in vehicles towards the purchase of a new/used Tesla. You will drive the follow up and resolution of any issues/delays that arise in transferring title ownership from the customer to Tesla. You will work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders: Tesla Sales/Delivery, finance/banking partners, state DMVs, title/tag agencies, and/or the customer directly to transfer title. You learn fast, take ownership and initiative, follow directions well, maintain a hyper focused workflow, and quickly pivot from task to task with a high efficiency. Operations Specialists are the ultimate problem solvers on our team and keep our team supplied with transferable titles that allow us to resell vehicles quickly.
What You’ll Do
- Develop extensive knowledge of state-specific DMV requirements as it relates to transacting vehicle ownership transfers to improve efficiency and maintain compliance
- Comprehend and monitor performance reports and dashboards to track individual KPIs (key performance indicators) and take appropriate action to influence metrics
- Review documentation of all received trade-in vehicles for accuracy and drive immediate actions to resolve potential issues preventing the title transfer process
- Routinely call banks/lienholders for updates on account closures and title release status
- Periodically coordinate re-execution of trade-in documents with customers directly
- Support local Tesla Sales and Delivery teams for all trade-in questions, specifically regarding trade-in ownership transfer process
- Partner with internal/external stakeholders to correct root cause issues impacting title turn
- Work ruthlessly to obtain titles quickly if not provided at time of trade-in following up with field team members, banks, DMVs
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- 2 + years of professional experience
- Prior experience in an administrative role, dealership, or work with vehicle titles preferred
- Intermediate/advanced excel skills a plus (pivot tables, filters, Vlookups, dwell formulas)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (confident on the phone), strong attention to detail, solutions/data focused (path forward thinking)
