The Manager of Engineering Services is a senior-level leadership position within the Engineering Services maintenance team at our theme parks or resorts. You will set the vision and priorities for your part of the organization and invest time based on a combination of data, experience, and instinct. You will keep an eye on the vision set by our organization and always move your team in that direction. You will “fly high” and also “dive into the details.” A successful manager will excel in an up-tempo environment with dynamic demands.
You will be a leader of salaried leaders. Your organization will consist of 60 to 100 salaried and hourly technicians who are both accomplished and diversified. The Walt Disney World resort has operations that are ongoing 24/7 and 365 days a year. As such, the responsibilities will require you to work nights, weekends, and holidays when needed.
You will report to a Director within Facilities and Operations Services (FOS).
What You Will Do:
- Ensure the safety of the cast and guest are your first priority by promoting a safety culture where “No One Gets Hurt”.
- Provide the team with a vision and encourage them to achieve it.
- Build value within your team, so they apply resolve to solving high-priority problems.
- Understand the daily operation and dive in where necessary to help manage the detail.
- Maintain the physical integrity and show-quality of the physical assets within your assigned area.
- Respond to events such as attraction downtimes or facility outages.
- Manage financial resources including direct responsibility for Annual Operating Plan (AOP) funds and maintain an annual operating budget ranging from $8M to over $10M.
- Know your operation and guide it to your cast members while holding teams accountable for performance.
- Translate reports and data in ways that encourage Cast Members to improve performance.
- Understand the Craft Maintenance Council (CMC) contract and administer the guidelines fairly.
- Apply strategic measures to improve guest service, cast support, and equipment efficiency.
- Manage projects including scope development, budgeting, resource management, scheduling, and communication.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency with our safety programs and policies.
- Inspect the quality of completed preventive maintenance and reconcile it to job plans.
- Honor your commitments and give realistic dates to achieve them.
- Project a positive image and cultivate relationships to promote goals.
- Maintain positive relationships with union representatives.
- Participate in Cast recognition events.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- 5+ years of leadership experience in a related field.
- Experience managing large-scale operations and teams.
- Sophisticated technical background in areas such as mechanical, electrical, HVAC, controls, networks, material science, and building trades.
- Experience improving technical proficiencies in areas that are not a strength.
- Well-defined and matured business approach.
- Experience communicating and working with all levels of an organization.
- Familiarity with accessing equipment pits, work platforms, catwalks, roofs, and similar areas by ladder.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of leadership experience in a maintenance-related field.
- Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field of study.
Education:
- Hold an Associate of Science degree in a technical field of study or 10+ years’ of confirmed experience in related field.
