Mason

McCarthy Building Companies is looking for skilled Masons for an exciting Commercial project in Atlanta, GA. In this role, you will be responsible for the construction and repair of structures using various masonry materials, work with bricks, concrete blocks, mortar, and other tools to create walls, partitions, arches, and other architectural features.

Key Responsibilities:

Layout and Design:

• Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan the layout of masonry structures.
• Calculate measurements and determine the materials needed for construction.

Material Preparation:

• Mix mortar and other construction materials to the proper consistency.
• Cut and shape bricks or other masonry materials using tools such as saws, hammers, and chisels.

Construction:

• Lay bricks, concrete blocks, or other masonry units in a precise and orderly manner, ensuring proper alignment and spacing.
• Apply mortar between bricks or blocks to bond them together securely.
• Build walls, arches, and other structures according to design specifications.

Repair and Restoration:

• Repair and replace damaged bricks or masonry units.
• Restore and repoint mortar joints to maintain structural integrity.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
• Comply with building codes and standards in all construction projects.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with other construction professionals, be a team player.
• Provide input and feedback on construction plans and designs as it relates to masonry.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Maintain and clean tools and equipment regularly.
• Report any faulty equipment or tools for repair or replacement.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Brick Mason or similar role.
• Knowledge of masonry techniques, materials, and tools.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and construction plans.
• Physical strength and stamina to handle the demands of the job.
• Attention to detail and precision in work.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing construction needs.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
