Overview
Overall responsibility for overseeing Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) activities for all solar construction/commissioning disciplines at a specific project. LOTO supervisor will build an exceptional team to safely execute the LOTO program.
Responsibilities
- Lead LOTO of utility scale Solar projects to ensure compliance with the program and promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
- Responsible for preparing detailed plans for LOTO on each project to include construction, pre- commissioning (cold commissioning) through final commissioning and testing
- Responsible for determining the size and the responsibilities of the LOTO team for each site.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
- Prepare LOTO documents/Site specific for each site according to contract obligations.
- Set up folders containing necessary LOTO documents for each site
- Assist in the development of the training module and employee training on proper usage
- Implement the LOTO requirement into the Permit to Work system
- Perform LOTO audits of subcontractors’ LOTO programs
- Maintain proper storage of LOTO equipment assuring adequate inventory
- Properly identify LOTO boundaries and develop clearances to assure proper energy source isolation
- Coordinate with specific discipline leads/specialists to determine LOTO boundaries
- Develop LOTO Clearance boundaries using P&IDs, Isometrics, Electrical Diagrams and vendor drawings to determine the proper energy sources, procedures and sequence for isolation
- Assure proper application of locks and tags and controlling LOTO keys and lock boxes
- Monitor application of locks and tags, proper barricading and signage
- Assure proper compilation and completion of all LOTO documentations, logs, logbooks and electronic databases
- Coordinate and monitor LOTO activities with construction, commissioning, HSSE, the owner and subcontractors
- Ensure that all specific procedures for LOTO are approved and are being implemented
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to identify responsibilities and boundaries
- Develop an effective, efficient and co-operative working relationship with contractors, commissioning, HSSE and owner teams
- Participate in various project execution meetings Assist in planning and coordinating LOTO activities as required
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum five years’ professional/technical experience in relevant heavy industrial/renewable projects dealing with subcontractors, direct hire employees, vendors and third-party contractors
- Demonstrated record of site-specific LOTO Program training at a minimum of one industrial/renewable facility
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles
- Thorough understanding and documented training in OSHA Lockout/Tagout Standard 1910 or equivalent training
- Sound technical knowledge in electrical equipment, components and safety controls
- Demonstrated knowledge of plant operating equipment, systems, processes and utilities
- Excellent organizational skills and leadership qualities with a proactive approach and positive thinking
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written
- Strong coordination skills
- Demonstrated successful experience working within a team
- Considerable exposure to piping/mechanical systems and equipment
- Ability to supervise the testing, commissioning and start-up of high, medium, low voltage and dc equipment / electrical and electronic systems in compliance with the referenced standards, project schedule and maintain the safety and quality standards.
- Ability to supervise the teamwork and coordinate the project team (including with project manager and commissioning personnel involved in the project assembly.
- Understanding of commissioning methods, scheduling and Problem solving
- Ability to demonstrate leadership, motivate workers and communicate with both workers and superiors is essential
- Computer literate in Microsoft office E-mail, Internet, all Wanzek forms, Excel spread sheets, all documents, photos and field time entry
- Skilled project management practices and problem-solving.
- Ability to train and managed crews effectively.
- Ability to work well under pressure and within timelines
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to calculate figures and to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in math
- Knowledge of the logic electrical equipment protection (protection logic of electrical machinery) and related instrumentation and relay settings.
