We are seeking a Landscape Architecture Lead to join our Community Development Team. The successful candidate will work directly with the Community Development practice, including Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Engineering disciplines, and Business Lines. This role will be tasked with building a practice and will lead assignments across disciplines, seek and position Stantec for new pursuits, manage assignments, provide critical urban and landscape architecture design experience, and interact with existing and prospective clients with exemplary communication skills and a strategic and design-oriented perspective.

In this role, you will work in a team environment and lead the planning and design of parks and recreation facilities; bicycle, pedestrian, and multiuse trails; sports and athletic facilities; healthcare, urban infill, corporate, and educational campuses; as well as master-planned communities including mixed-use and transit-oriented developments.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Will be tasked with building a Landscape Architecture practice in Los Angeles
- Pursuit identification and team lead in procuring new assignments
- Client relationships and client-facing responsibility on key assignments
- Project development through relationships, vision, and leveraging in-house expertise and client position
- Project scoping and concept through construction phase project management
- Site analysis and design concept development including oversight of digital and hand-illustrated deliverables suitable to communicate design intent to clients and staff
- Oversight of design development and construction documentation for interdisciplinary assignments
- Oversight and leadership on analysis, design reports and master plan level graphics and narratives
- Design and thought leadership pertaining to public realm and infrastructure in urban environments
- Staff mentorship and inter-office collaboration throughout the Pacific Region
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Possess extensive experience with public sector agencies and private sectors in major Southern California Cities and Counties, specifically in LA County
- Demonstrated responsibility, maturity, and commitment to a team driven environment are key capabilities, including an ability to communicate effectively, lead teams, develop strong internal relationships, and foster a culture of collaboration
- Desire and the ability to lead and contribute on multiple levels within the design process
- Demonstrated effectiveness in building and maintaining client relationships; Proven ability to translate those relationships into winning new work opportunities
- Conduct presentations and project interviews
- Excellent creative and critical thinking skills
- Ability to integrate sustainability in all aspects of planning and design
- Well-versed in local, regional, and national trends in planning, landscape architecture and urban design
- Ability to successfully scope and deliver multi-disciplinary projects
- Excellent verbal and presentation skills
- Understanding of graphic applications (either hand or digital) including AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
- High-level understanding and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, GIS, LandFX, Sketch-Up, or similar platforms at a supervisory level of effectiveness
- Possesses excellent time management skills and has a thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources
- Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions and how they apply to design projects
- Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited Landscape Architecture program.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience.
- Licensure as a Landscape Architect in California.
- Candidate’s work experience should demonstrate appropriate level of responsibility, work group leadership skills, business development, understanding of the long-term view in building client relationships, superior customer service and communication skills both written and graphic.
You will work in an open-concept office setting. Local travel will be required for attending client or public meetings, scoping new assignments, and participating in internal meetings with staff in Community Development and across all business lines.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):
Salary Range(s):
87,600.00 – 131,300.00 (CA, CO, WA locations only)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
