Position Summary:
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for supporting the IT needs of UC Irvine faculty, students, and staff. Our mission is to provide information technology leadership, services, and innovative solutions to promote the research, education and community service goals of the University. OIT Project Management Office provides leadership and coordination of large cross-functional projects. Also develop and continually enhance project management guidelines and tools and educate project leaders throughout the university on utilizing project management best practices.
Under the general supervision of the Interim Supervisor, OIT Project Management Office, the IT Project Manager applies skills as a seasoned, experienced technical project management professional with a full understanding of project management frameworks and methods, relevant policies, and procedures to resolve a wide range of issues. Demonstrates competency in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions. Manages projects of diverse scope, size, impact, budget and / or project team size.

$90,500.00 – $169,700.00

Three (3) to five (5) years relevant experience with BA/BS in related field, or one (1) to three (3) years relevant experience with MA/MS in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Project Management in an IT environment.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Requires effective communication and organization skills. Demonstrated effective writing skills. Requires basic knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts. Requires ability to assess campus, medical center or Office of the President needs for information technology products and design services to meet those needs. Experience with requirements gathering, analysis and design, development tools and technologies, release and version control, contemporary testing methodologies, and deployment management. Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives. Knowledge of most aspects of computing and communications including hardware infrastructure, networking, software, operations, and disaster recovery. Demonstrated capacity to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies. Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks. Proven leadership ability. Effective problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to put forth persuasive arguments. High proficiency using Microsoft Project, SmartSheet, JIRA, ServiceNow, Wiki, or other similar tools to create and update project schedules including dependencies, critical path, resources, estimates, budgets, and required repo. Intermediate to advanced skills in MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Visio. Strong experience managing multiple projects or large enterprise project with complex interdependencies. Effective skill at tracking effort and project progress. Strong ability to facilitating meetings with cross-functional (technical and business users) teams. Experience executing various Software/System Development Life Cycle processes (SDLC) including Waterfall and agile project management methodologies and techniques. Solid understanding of business or technical process changes, implementations, and deployments. Analytical ability sufficient to understand user requirements and translate them into technical terms to develop quantitative status reports and identify and quantify issues and risks. Excellent interpersonal skills to successfully collaborate with a broad range of personnel at all levels across the campus and with varying level of technical knowledge and/or project management concepts. Oral communication and presentation skills sufficient to explain business needs to technical personnel and technical information to business users. Superb written and verbal communication skills and the ability to create effective project plans and timelines and present them in a group setting. Ability to work effectively with external vendors and all levels of technical staff, management, and stakeholders. Excellent team player with a proven track record of working across a large distributed enterprise and a highly collaborative environment. Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.
Preferred:
Professional certification preferred.
Relevant project management certifications (e.g., PMP, ACP, CSM) preferred or the ability to gain a certification.
Demonstrated advanced organization and project management skills. Demonstrated competency in selecting and implementing project management methods and techniques. Knowledge of UC Irvine systems, policies and procedures.
