The iPhone team is seeking a system-level design engineer with expertise in analog/mixed signals, DC-DC power converters, and battery charging circuits. As a member of a creative and collaborative engineering team, you will be responsible for developing innovative iPhone technologies. Your scope of work will include both wired and wireless charging solutions, encompassing all design aspects from circuit and IC definition to thermal management and setting charging policies. Your responsibilities will cover the entire design lifecycle, including feature planning, prototyping, IC definition, testing and validation, factory support, and field support. This is an outstanding opportunity to engage in numerous multi-functional interactions with Apple’s internal hardware/software teams, contract manufacturer teams, and IC vendor teams throughout the various development stages.
Description
As a system-level design engineer, you are expected to bridge the gap between analog circuit design and higher-level system architecture. This entails a comprehensive understanding of analog circuits, including high efficiency buck converters, linear regulators, switched capacitors, wireless power transfer, oscillators, and analog-to-digital converters. Additionally, you should possess practical experience in addressing system-level challenges such as power management, interference mitigation, PCB layout optimization, and digital interface design. Responsibilities: – Plan system charging architecture – Distill system requirements into IC definition and write its specifications – Conduct IC design reviews and bug tracking – Driving/participating in charging/wireless charging/battery system level policy discussions – Participate in IP development, schematic, and layout reviews – Assist in prototype bring-up and debugging – Provide support during production testing and system bug tracking – Verify functional and parameter characteristics, often using automation – Conduct signal characterization – Provide manufacturing support
