What to Expect
Consider before submitting an application:
This position is expected to start in-person around May or June 2024 and continue through the entire Summer term (i.e. through August/September 2024) or into early Fall 2024 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. Please consider before submitting an application.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week in-person. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

What You’ll Do
The Used Car Operations team is responsible for the overall business focused on the intake, refurbishment, and resale of all used Tesla and non-Tesla vehicles, as well as vehicle title management for Tesla’s leased deliveries. We ensure ownership documentation is quickly transferred to and from our customers. We are a team that constantly challenges the status quo to revolutionize the trade-in and used vehicle purchase experience, employing a Tesla factory-like approach to optimize our operation.
As a project management intern, you will identify, propose, and lead the implementation of projects that directly improve areas of opportunity that increase our operational capacity. You will work cross-functionally with internal Tesla stakeholders and external partners on an array of policy/compliance, digital, and business operations projects while representing the interests of the used car business. You are a dynamic critical thinker who can relentlessly research, identify issues/opportunities, propose solutions, carry those solutions through to implementation, and then report on resulting impacts.
- Understand and process map the operation by observing workflows and analyzing reporting at a national scale
- Practice first principles thinking and identify areas of opportunities to increase our operational processing capacity
- Research problem statements/processes, identify constraints and root causes, and develop ROI analysis/models to support and inform decision making
- Scope and propose improvements to leadership, working with multiple stakeholders to drive solutions to completion and verify desired impact was made
- Create and maintain detailed JIRA tickets that fully document and communicate requirements and progress to leadership and development teams
- Act as the unifier to bring all stakeholders together to align on specific project goals
- Own and service any ad hoc project requests promptly
What You’ll Bring
- Currently pursuing an academic degree in a relevant program including, but not limited to: Project Management, Data Analytics, or Business Administration
- Proven ability to learn quickly with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Background or knowledge of business/sales operations, ROI analysis, operational reporting/analytics, SQL
- Intermediate/advanced experience with project management tools (JIRA, Confluence, MS office, Visio, Excel)
