OVERVIEW:
A global company with over 12,000 employees is looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager. This is a position at their holding company and may oversee the operations of 4 subsidiaries in the group along with the holding entity. As the Human Resources Manager, you will play a vital role in overseeing the organization’s employment policies and procedures, ensuring workplace safety, and managing key HR functions. This includes handling recruitment, employee/labor relations, compensation, benefits, training, diversity, payroll, and employee records. Your responsibilities will also involve maintaining compliance with employment laws and regulations, fostering a supportive work culture, and developing processes that align with the organization’s business goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT ARE LIMITED TO:
•Lead and manage the overall operations and functions of the Human Resources department.
•Assist expatriates from the global HQ (Japan) with their seamless integration into the organization, including managing payroll, benefits, tax returns, immigration matters, and housing arrangements.
•Manage the entire recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing and interviewing to hiring and onboarding.
•Oversee the 401(k) program, actively participating in committee meetings and handling compliance testing for the US headquarters.
•Conduct thorough analyses of compensation and benefits trends in the industry, and propose competitive compensation packages to attract and retain top talent.
•Prepare accurate and comprehensive information for salary budgets and overall company budgets.
•Offer support and guidance to management and act as a reliable resource for employees on complex and sensitive HR issues.
•Design and execute training and development programs to foster employee growth and skill enhancement.
•Stay updated on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Regularly review and update HR policies to maintain compliance.
•Keep job requirements and descriptions up-to-date for all positions within the organization, and ensure clarity and consistency in job roles and responsibilities.
•Oversee the performance management and review process, ensuring fair and objective evaluations.
•Manage disciplinary actions and employee terminations in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
•Participate actively in executive, management, and company staff meetings.
•Provide HR insights and contribute to strategic decision-making.
•Take charge of workplace safety initiatives to maintain a secure and healthy work environment. Implement safety protocols and foster a culture of safety among employees.
•Lead and manage HR-related specialized projects as required.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
•Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
•Provide necessary assistance to business travelers from Japan HQ.
•Assist with administrative, legal, and corporate governance tasks as needed.
•Other duties requested by the company senior management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields.
•3+ years of experience in human resource management with knowledge of labor regulations in California.
•SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is highly desired.
•Able to attend business trips (Domestics). May include business trips to Japan.
•Japanese language skill is a plus (not required).
The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
