The Charlotte Production team produces content for ESPN’s family of networks which includes live events and studio shows that fans can watch on ESPNU and SEC Network. The approximate dates of this internship are January 2025 to May 2025.
What You Will Do
As an intern on the team, you will collaborate with video editors to produce high-level show content, observe departments outside of production and attend event opportunities. You will report to a Producer, contributing to the team by:
- Screening, logging, transcribing and clipping footage for events, organizing head shots, element and melt reels
- Creating shot sheets and cue sheets for assigned highlights, logging and archiving video and associated data for future use
- Cutting show elements, such as video b-roll, highlights, teases, selecting material for bumps and roll-outs and suggesting creative content during production meetings
- Screening videotapes and/or servers and conducting research in the media asset management system to obtain material for the preparation of production elements
- Providing timely, accurate and complete delivery of multimedia elements and publishes to various platforms
- Performing crew functions as needed during productions
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in sports media, preferably in television production, or involvement with collegiate TV station
- Elite knowledge of sports, including current athletes, rules and events
- Familiarity with server-based media and/or non-linear editing equipment including but not limited to Final Cut Pro and Quantel
- High level of familiarity with ESPN programming, platforms and studio
Preferred Qualifications
- Historical knowledge of US sports
- Experience with editing, screening, logging and/or archiving video
- Familiarity with sports business trends and technologies
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a professional role, organization or activity
Education
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
- Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Broadcast, Sports Media or related major preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
- The approximate dates of this internship are January through May 2025
- Able to work days, nights and weekends for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week
- Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Charlotte, NC area
- A limited amount of housing assistance may be provided for those who qualify
- Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
