What You’ll Do
- Support Test and Reliability Engineers with failure analysis (FA) studies on Tesla’s current and future cell designs
- Work closely with design and engineering teams to provide timely feedback of failure modes and issues discovered through hands-on cell dissections.
- Support and run testing to evaluate vendor cell quality and designs.
- Support our factories with engineering trials and provide a feedback loop for any proposed manufacturing processes that could impact cell safety and reliability
- Analyze and report on non-destructive cell analysis such as CT and X-ray scans
- Document test results and FA observations in a clear and concise manner
- Retain confidentiality of Tesla designs, Tesla test procedures, test results and data
- Participate with organizing, cleaning, and maintaining the FA lab space and equipment
What You’ll Bring
- Ability and passion to perform hands-on tasks such as cell openings and mechanical testing in the lab and production environment
- Above average manual dexterity and visual acuity are required to perform delicate cell disassembly tasks
- Ability and passion to work safely with hand tools, power tools, and with hazardous materials
- Ability to work with others in a cross-functional environment
- Proven record of time efficient task execution, detail oriented with strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable with frequent change of direction, dynamic work environment and passion to perform time-sensitive analysis sometimes under a tight deadline
- Strong desire to learn and use advanced failure analysis and battery testing techniques

Expected Compensation
$24.00 – $65.00/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
