1.    Roles
–   Report to Manager (Automation) in all Design activities

–   Support Project lead Manager (PLM) for Automation  design for both commercial and defense projects

2.    Tasks

a.    Tender
–     Evaluate tender requirement and translate to a technical specification
–    Evaluate available Automation systems (Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS), CCTV system, Fire Detection System and Dynamic Positioning System) that best meets tender requirements.
–    Formulate scope of works for the contract.
–     Generate estimated I/O points breakdown
–    Generate Request For Quotation (RFQ) 
–    Technical evaluation of various equipment supplier proposals

b.    Contract Drafting and Negotiation
–    Participate in contract negotiations.
–    Negotiate scope of supply and services with the supplier
–    Formulate equipment technical specifications for the contract with the supplier.

c.    Design
–     Technical discussion with various equipment suppliers on system specifications
–    Evaluate completeness and correctness of Technical information from the supplier 
–    Design of Wheelhouse and Engine Control Room layout based on customer requirement
–    Design of Wheelhouse and Engine Control Room console equipment layout based on contractual requirement and inputs from other trades
–    Design of IPMS and logic based on the contractual requirement, Classification rules and inputs from other trades 
–    Tabulate IPMS I/O list based on shipboard system electrical drawings, functional system drawings
–    Plan, manage and issue layout drawings to production and other trades in EDC to meet project schedule
–     Evaluate technical information of Automation systems
–    Discuss and finalize Automation systems design with customer.
–    Plan, organise and conduct Design Reviews with customer
–    Technical discussion with other trades in EDC to resolve technical issues

d.    Test and acceptance
–     Review acceptance test protocols 
–     Manage and acceptance of IPMS equipment during Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) to ensure it meets technical specification.
–     Attended and support Harbour and Sea Acceptance Test (HAT & SAT) to ensure that the systems meet the technical specification
