What to Expect
This role will evaluate and implement onsite energy resources, including solar and storage, for the global charging network buildout. This role requires a high degree of collaboration and engagement with Tesla’s charging deployment and energy teams. This role is based in Palo Alto, CA or Austin, TX.
What You’ll Do
- Evaluate economics of onsite resources, including solar and storage, and other renewable procurement opportunities and recommend best commercial and technical fit
- Work closely with internal Tesla teams to complete preliminary design and negotiate applicable contracts
- Understand regional energy markets and utilities, define, and disseminate functional requirements with internal business and engineering colleagues
- Evaluate and identify new market segments and revenue opportunities
- Participate in ongoing proceedings related to tariffs, market mechanisms, and tax structures to inform and update modelling processes and internal tracking
- Monitor and report on asset performance
- Coordinate with internal teams for servicing needs
What You’ll Bring
- Demonstrated experience in analysis to solve complex problems
- Demonstrated experience related to energy markets and utilities
- Demonstrated experience with financial analysis
- Demonstrated experience working with utilities on generation development and interconnection
- Demonstrated experiencing working on energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers
- Deep passion for EV charging and changing the way we use energy on the electric grid
- Knowledge of battery systems, power conversion, and grid systems
- Superb organizational skills with strong multi-tasking abilities
- Impeccable communication skills, both writing and speaking – ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of individuals
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in areas of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Engineering Management and Energy specialization, Management Science and Engineering with Energy specialization Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering
- 5+ years work experience in the energy industry
