McCarthy has a great opportunity for an experienced professional in the drywall and framing industry. This is an opportunity to be part of a team that maps and achieves the growth and success of our self-perform drywall & framing activities. This individual will engage in the project planning process and management of the field teams in day-to-day operations. Partnered with the Project Manager, the Superintendent will be responsible for safety, quality and production expectations. Foster a competitive and creative environment for personal and team growth. This position will be based in our San Diego office but will require travel to various jobsites throughout the San Diego area.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Manpower
- Hire, evaluate, and promote craftsmen.
- Work with project teams to properly staff Drywall crews on each project.
- Treat the crews with trust and respect.
- Assist with regional training for craftsmen.
- Ensure minimum training standards are enforced.
Planning
- Assist self-perform estimator in providing production/cost input.
- Perform field constructability reviews for each project.
- Develop and maintain the self-perform work plan for executing the work productively and safely.
- Support and participate in preconstruction activities including estimate reviews, logistics planning, and risk evaluations.
- Provide early schedule input related to scope durations, trade coordination, and sequencing.
Project Execution
- Ensure SAFETY is the top priority at all times.
- Coordinate resources (personnel, material and equipment) between projects to take full advantage and use of resources.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the Contract Documents (i.e., Plans, Specifications, Shop Drawings, etc.) as it relates to the framing/drywall scope.
- Develop and enforce proper productivity tracking and time coding among all jobs.
- Proactively identify and mitigate issues that may prevent flow and production.
- Effectively schedule and coordinate our work with other trade partners.
- Uphold quality standards. Verify we are building per the plans and specs.
- Offer technical information to ensure work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications.
- Identify changes in scope and communicate with the Project Manager.
- Oversight of project specific material and equipment purchases.
- Coordinate deliveries and stocking with our vendor partners
- Promote collaboration at all levels and encourage strong team morale.
- Be an advocate for McCarthy’s internal warehouse. Coordinate rentals and purchases with McCarthy’s yard manager to maximize yard usage.
Union
- Develop and maintain a working relationship with the local union representatives and business agents, when applicable.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of drywall field experience in large commercial, education, and/or healthcare markets. Previous experience, minimally as a Drywall Foreman and/or Superintendent preferred.
- Technical background with framing and drywall systems.
- General knowledge of construction principles, codes, and processes.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Attention to detail.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
- Customer service-based disposition.
- Demonstrates behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values.
For Southern California locations only, the salary range for this position is: $117,000 – $156,000. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Compensation offered may vary based on work location, experience, qualifications, specialty, training, and market and business considerations, among other factors.
