Job Details
Responsibilities:
- The Director of Construction will lead the construction process for new build construction and renovation of major mixed-use developments,
residential buildings, casinos, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues
- Responsible for coordinating the selection of contractors and other owner-direct vendors, as well as ensuring budget compliance & quality assurance throughout the
design and construction process
- This position will work directly with ownership, operations, and our in-house architecture and construction management team to ensure that projects meet operational,
schedule, and budget goals
- Manages the construction process for a broad-range of new build, renovation and related projects, including major mixed-use developments, residential buildings,
casinos, hotels, restaurants, entertainment, and related venues across the portfolio
- Manages the solicitation of contractors to support project budgeting, bidding, award and delivery
- Prepares bid packages to support the solicitation
- Reviews contractor prequalification information as applicable to specific projects
- Help facilitate agency approvals(permitting) as may be required
- Manages the leveling, descope and tabulation of bids received
- Assists with the preparation of construction and owner-direct vendor contracts
- Prepares summary project schedules including contractor and owner provided elements
- Reviews and tracks contractor and vendor schedules
- Prepare bid packages utilized for obtaining competitive bids from contractors and vendors
- Prepares, coordinates and delivers presentations, budgets, and cost analysis for senior management approval
- Coordinates internal project status meetings
- Manages and leads communication with the project construction teams
- Assists with tracking agency permit submissions and comments that require design and construction team response
- Maintains in house project files for assigned projects
- Works with the project team as a corporate representative, supporting the on-time, on-budget delivery of all
- Facilitates daily communications between consultant/vendors, project managers, leadership, and related stakeholder groups
- Tracks and assists in resolving construction related items and issues, including oversign of special inspections and field quality control
- Facilitates meetings with applicable contractors and vendors to focus on schedule related matters
- Provides critical feedback to contractors and vendors relative to schedules
- Schedules design consultants field visits and inspections to support project schedules
- Assists with additional tasks or projects as requested by the management team
- Ensures the appropriate approval of invoices, verifying work completion and payment resolution
- In concert with the design management team, coordinates project Value Engineering (VE) process and ensures that VE goals are realized
- Participates in the punchlist and turnover process with the in-house construction management and operations groups
- Performs related duties as required
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree or Higher in Construction related major
- 7-10 years’ experience in a design/build and/or general construction firm with relevant experience in world-class mixed-use developments, residential buildings,
casinos, hotels, restaurants, and/or entertainment venue design and construction
- The position is required to manage multiple projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of managers and vendors
- Must be a self-starter, constantly displaying a strong sense of urgency, motivation, confidence, and assertiveness
- Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner both internally and externally, with superior communication skills (both in person and via phone and other media)
