Job Summary:
The Director, DCVI – Creative will oversee all facets of creative, for international localization. They will determine the creative direction for quality and cost-effective dubbing and subtitling of all Studio-branded content, including both live-action and animated titles. The role will lead a team responsible for identifying and problem-solving all dubbing challenges, including translation challenges, casting approvals, text inserts, music strategy and legal clearances.
The role will include overseeing a team of experienced and seasoned localization professionals, liaising with business stakeholders and senior leadership on their various needs, therefore candidate must have a keen sense of diplomacy.
They will be tasked to set-up the global teams for success, to make certain that the local versions reflect the original filmmaker intent and that each product is locally relevant.
Responsibilities include:
- Act as key global contact and liaison to post-production
- Develop and implement creative strategy for upcoming titles
- Identify and grow a global talent pool, with a focus on diversity and authenticity
- Review and approve work of vendors, providing direction and constant feedback
- Ensure we are leading the way in adaptation and implementation of the latest technology and advancements
- Capture localization metrics and report results to Sr leadership
- Evaluate domestic reference materials and give guidance to team members and local studio vendors on localization approach
- Work with outside vendors to produce and edit technical and creative briefs of films currently in production to aid international dubbing
- Communicate creative ideas in a clear manner to non-native English speakers to make certain that the original creative intent is not lost in translation
- Manage and develop team, globally
- Ensure creative consistency across all products
- Make sure that all localization meets brand expectations
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with strategic partner/studios
Requirements:
- 8+ years of prior localization project management experience, specializing in dubbing or subtitle localization
- Proficient and well-versed in music. Candidate must have a “good musical ear”
- Strong project management skills & ability to track multiple projects at a time
- Working knowledge of industry standard localization tools
- Experience working in a high-volume production environment with multiple simultaneous projects and tight deadlines.
- Ability to multi task
- Ability to work cross-functionally with other departments to achieve common goals
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in the voice over recording process
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, California is $139,800.00-$180,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
