What to Expect
As a Digital Systems Development Engineer at Tesla’s Gulf Coast Lithium Refinery near Corpus Christi, Texas, you will play a pivotal role in integrating project and plant data management system software solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of related workflows. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing innovative software solutions to visualize operational discipline and plant performance. This role requires familiarity with chemical plant or refinery environments and expertise in integrating CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), EAM (Enterprise Asset Management), and PDMS (Plant Design Management System) data systems.
What You’ll Do
- Data System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate project and plant data management system software solutions seamlessly. Ensure that data flows efficiently across the refinery’s digital ecosystem
- Workflow Optimization: Identify, develop, and implement solutions to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness leveraging digital systems
- Innovative Software Development: Create cutting-edge software solutions to visualize and analyze operational discipline and plant performance data. These solutions should facilitate data-driven decision-making and improve plant operations
- Data System Expertise: Utilize your expertise in CMMS, EAM, IDMS, and PDMS data systems to configure, optimize, and troubleshoot these systems as needed
- Plant Environment Familiarity: Leverage your understanding of chemical plant or refinery environments to tailor digital systems and software solutions to meet the specific needs of the lithium refinery
- Collaborative Approach: Collaborate with various teams, including IT, Projects, Operations, and Maintenance, to ensure alignment and successful implementation of digital systems
- Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations, software development, and integration processes
- Quality Assurance: Ensure data accuracy, system reliability, and adherence to industry best practices in all digital systems. Work closely with software providers in the troubleshooting, optimization, and updating digital solutions as needed
What You’ll Bring
- Educational Background: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Experience: A proven track record in developing and implementing digital systems, preferably in industrial settings such as chemical plants or refineries. Minimum experience 4+ years
- Software Development Skills: Proficiency in software development languages and tools. Experience with data visualization tools and technologies is a plus
- Data Systems Expertise: Familiarity with CMMS, EAM, IDMS, and PDMS data systems and their integration into plant environments. Experience with the Hexagon suite of software systems a plus
- Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify opportunities for optimization and innovation. Demonstrated ability to work through the details while keeping the bigger picture in focus, developing software solutions to match a workflow in lieu of fitting a workflow into an existing solution
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Adaptability: Capacity to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment, occasionally requiring extended hours to meet project deadlines
- Innovative Thinking: A passion for exploring and implementing innovative digital solutions to improve plant operations
