PBK is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cost Estimator to join our team. The Cost Estimator is responsible for overseeing the development of Architectural cost estimates from the conceptual phase through the construction phase. The Cost Estimator shall collaborate with PBK’s Architects / Engineers and be responsible for providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for PK-12 and Higher Education projects and pursuits.
Your Impact:
- Leading all aspects in the development of cost estimates including but not limited to Conceptual, Programmatic, Schematic, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Value Engineering.
- Implement estimating best practice and procedures to ensure consistency in estimating deliverables to projects.
- Leading/Supporting multiple estimates throughout PBK’s California offices.
- Calculate man hours required for all associated work with the project; consult with teams and various disciplines to validate man hours.
- Recalculate estimates in response to any client changes in project scope and specifications.
- Complete final cost estimate of projects after final determination of scope and any other factors that may impact overall cost.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Construction, or related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in California Public School cost estimating.
- Familiarity with Office of Public School Construction (OPSC) estimating format.
- Strong Management, Leadership, Problem Solving, Organizational, and Teamwork skills.
- Ability to lead multiple cost estimates concurrently.
- Ability to work well under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

The actual offered base salary for California locations will vary depending on factors such as work location, individual qualifications, education, specializations, experience, skills, job-related knowledge, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role will be at or near the top half of the range provided, but the decision will be dependent on the factors of each individual case. The salary range for this position is $80,000 – 130,000. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation in the form of discretionary bonuses in addition to base salary and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
