Position Summary:

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for coordinating all phases of renovation, maintenance, repair, and minor capital projects, from establishment of design concepts project budgets and schedules through design implementation and coordination of construction. Executes and communicates project scope based on assessment of program, budget, building structure, utility infrastructure, and code compliance. Provides technical advice to customers and staff and develop and evaluate alternate project solutions. Adheres to schedule and estimate and provide status reports as directed. Functions as lead on projects as assigned by the Project Services Manager with a high degree of responsiveness to requests for service. Acts independently, receiving guidance at each key phase of the project. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Compensation Range:
$78,905.52 – $145,095.12

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- 4 plus years of experience in Architectural, Engineering or Facilities fields
- 3 years of responsible planning, organizing, and managing teams to execute renovation projects ranging in value from $50,000 and up
- Ability to work with consultants and material vendors in exploring design and construction options
- Thorough project management skills to manage complex projects
- Thorough organizational and analytical skills to provide high quality control
- Detail-oriented to accurately proof contracts and other documents
- Proven ability to manage contractors and maintain compliance to the agreed upon scope of work and budget
- Thorough written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills including high level political acumen
- Knowledge of industry standards and utility systems when inspecting and surveying buildings infrastructure for the basis of project design development
- Thorough skills in problem recognition, avoidance, resolution
- Skill in working with people who have levels of design and construction knowledge ranging from detailed to very limited, to assist with their understanding of project scope, design decisions, associated costs, project schedule, codes, standards, and compliance to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction
- Thorough working knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration, and California Building Codes including full understanding of industry practices
Preferred:
- Masters degree in related field
- Active California Department of Consumer Affairs- Architect License- preferred Active California. Department of Consumer Affairs- Professional Engineer
- Project Management Institute – PMP
- USGBC LEED credentials – Association of Energy Engineers – Certified Energy Manager
- Skill in adjusting industry standard estimating procedures and guides to accommodate project-specific decisions
- Knowledge of Public contracting code and policies as they pertain to procuring professional services, purchase orders, and construction contracts
- Knowledge of University systems policies and procedures applicable to the Irvine campus
- Knowledge of principles used in preparing man-hour and material estimates for various types of projects
- Thorough knowledge of the organization including its infrastructure and short and long-range strategic building plans
Special Conditions Required:
Must have a valid CA driver’s license and participate in the DMV Pull-notice program.
Must be able to work outside of regular hours including on-call.
Must comply with UC vaccine policy Must be able to wear PPE.
