Job Details
The Construction Project Estimator is responsible for analyzing construction project requirements, preparing accurate cost estimates, and providing recommendations to ensure projects are completed within budget. The Construction Project Estimator plays a crucial role in supporting project planning, decision-making, and financial management.
Responsibilities:
- Review project plans, specifications, and relevant documentation to understand project requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to gather necessary project information.
- Analyze project scope and identify all required labor, materials, equipment, and resources.
- Research and obtain current pricing information for construction materials, supplies, and subcontractor services.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, considering labor costs, material quantities, equipment rentals, and other project-related expenses.
- Evaluate project risks and incorporate contingency factors into cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to refine project budgets and ensure cost feasibility.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and reports to present cost estimates to management and clients.
- Assist in the selection and evaluation of subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors based on cost, quality, and reliability.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to ensure accurate cost estimates.
- Participate in project meetings, providing cost-related insights and recommendations.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to analyze actual costs versus estimated costs and identify areas for improvement.
- Continuously update and refine estimating databases, templates, and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Stay informed about construction regulations, codes, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with other team members and contribute to a positive work environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Construction Project Estimator or similar role – Commercial and/or Retail experience
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in using construction estimating software and tools.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in cost calculations and estimates.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) are a plus.
