Job Overview:
Due to Company growth, we are actively seeking Construction Managers to join our Electric Operations Teams in Riverside & San Diego California. The Construction Managers will provide the following services below and will manage electrical substation switchyards, overhead transmission lines, distribution overhead power lines, and underground systems, generation power plants and maintenance projects on a as needed basis.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Facilitate construction plan and sequence.
- Maintain and enforce safe work practices.
- Manage safety and environmental issues on site.
- Manage quality and inspection (see site inspector’s scope of work). For major projects, site reps are aided by site inspectors.
- Assist in managing project deliverables, cost and schedule.
- Facilitate daily job briefings.
- Prepare Contractor dailies.
- Prepare field change orders for approval and processing.
- Oversee and verify receipt of as-built drawings from Contractor.
- Coordinate outage requests with IID Project Manager.
- Manage material onsite, including deliveries coordination with vendors.
- Perform constructability reviews of IID-prepared plans, specifications and documents for adequacy, accuracy, clarity and completeness related to construction as required. Provide recommendations as required.
- Attend project meetings and provide feedback to the responsible project manager.
- Assist IID staff in reviewing submittals, updating schedules, requesting materials and providing recommendations.
- Conduct and/or participate in progress meetings as appropriate with internal staff and external agencies. Prepare minutes of the meetings that address critical decisions and action items related to construction activities.
- Communicate with Project Manager and stakeholders on project status or issues as needed.
- Create and maintain progressive punch list items to ensure that Construction is completed to the fullest extent possible.
- Assist IID Project Manager in preparing closure documents.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent education
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive related electric utility industry experience, with transmission facilities construction management experience preferred.
- Five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity preferred
- Extensive knowledge of electric utility industry materials and equipment is a must.
- Good working knowledge through actual use of MS Office products including Excel, Access, Word and MS Project.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must have current US Work authorization and valid US Driver’s License in good standing
- Must be willing to travel to construction sites on a day-to-day basis, attend meetings
- Applicants should have the knowledge, experience, and skills needed to review project plans, specifications, contract enforcement, and applicable technical standards, OSHA, and other regulatory statutes.
- General knowledge of applicable environmental regulations governing
- Knowledge of industry codes governing the electric industry including NEC, NESC, and OSHA.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings and convey interpretations to contractors.
- Able and willing to travel within an assigned region or area.
- Must have current US Work authorization and valid US Driver’s License in good standing.
