Our client is seeking experienced Construction Managers (levels I and / or II) to manage infrastructure projects including roadway, storm drain,channels, pump stations, waterworks, sewer, traffic signal, and landscaping.
The primary assignment will be managing construction projects located in south County region but may extend to other regions in the County based on workload.
CMs will perform their duties from project field offices.
The services include the following :
Perform construction inspection, oversight, enforcement of compliance with the contract documents, and on-site management of the construction project.
Prepare and process change orders, daily reports, and working day statements; collect work records; maintain accurate records of work performed for payment purposes;
conduct employee interviews; prepare as-built plans; and perform other associated administrative tasks.
Negotiate change orders.
Prepare monthly pay estimates.
Schedule materials testing and construction staking with Public Works staff.
Respond to inquiries from the public, elected officials, other agencies, and others within Public Works.
Coordinate construction activities with contractors, other agencies, and others within Public Works.
Prepare written correspondence to others, including contractors.
Prepare and maintain project budgets and schedules.
Review the work of other consultants and ensure compliance with instructions.
Review and make recommendations on contractor submittals.
Evaluate and make recommendations on changes in scope of work.
Prepare project meeting agendas, run project meetings, and prepare meeting minutes.
Perform plan and specifications constructability reviews.
Work closely with Public Works project managers, designers, and inspectors to deliverprojects.
Coordinate project close-out activities.
Candidates are required to possess the following :
Minimum 5 years (CM1) or 10 years (CM2) of construction management experience managinghorizontal infrastructure projects.
Licensed professional or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
Education background in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or relatedfield.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to independently complete assignments.
Ability to develop and maintain logs.
Ability to interpret contract plans and specifications, including other agency permits.
Ability to effectively facilitate project team and client meetings.
Ability to effectively negotiate and prepare change orders.
Ability to effectively monitor and coordinate project activities with the various projectstakeholders.
Ability to adapt and respond effectively to project issues and challenges.
Knowledge of the Greenbook or Caltrans specification
