Your Opportunity
The role of a Civil Engineer in Training is to work as a collaborative team member under the close guidance and supervision of a senior engineer/designer. You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems for a project. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations and field work.
As a Civil Engineer in Training, you will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing the routine aspects of various transportation and land development projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Uses knowledge of the general concepts of relevant civil engineering elements including the design of roadways, drainage, sediment control, stormwater management, grading, water and sewer, maintenance of traffic and signing and pavement marking plans.
- Assists team in preparing drawings and reports.
- Conducts basic calculations and performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- Assists in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design.
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
- Basic understanding of Micro-Station/AutoCAD Civil 3D and any other relevant design software and knowledge of calculations performed by the software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- EIT certification, or ability to obtain within one year.
- Minimum of 0-2 years of experience. Co-op/Internship experience preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
The candidate should be willing to come into the office on a full-time basis until the candidate demonstrates the ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote setting.
