Job Description
Prepares design/build, engineer, construction management, guaranteed maximum price, and hard-bid estimates/proposals. Analyzes quotations both prior to and on bid day. Evaluates bids of sub-contractors and suppliers for completeness of scope of work, delivery time, and compliance with the specifications and other requirements. Enters quantity take-offs and material unit pricings as applicable to project. Recognizes and applies appropriate work breakdown structure (WBS) structure. Processes and identifies complete scope of project with limited levels of design definition. Prepares opinions of probable construction cost estimates to applicable discipline. Develop subcontractor and vendor scopes and reviews same for completeness. Assists in coordination of overall corporate estimating functions. Contact subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing. Provides guidance to more junior staff in estimating procedures and the use of estimating software. Manages bid day and close out activities. Performs additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. 8 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Thorough knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing. Reads and comprehends drawings and specifications and identify missing elements during design development. Ability to perform conceptual estimates in multiple trades and review estimates in many trades. Ability to estimate many types of projects/contracts. Good multi-tasking skills and ability to meet strict deadlines. Strong personal computer and Estimating and On-Screen digitizing software skills. Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

This opportunity is with an award-winning architecture & design studio based in Los Angeles. The firm specializes in design of small and large scale works in both private and public spaces across a wide range of typologies, including cultural, single-family residential, multi-family residential, commercial, educational, civic, and infrastructure. The firm’s capabilities include all phases of project development, from research and conceptual design to schematics, design development, construction documents, bidding, negotiations, and contract administration. Offering a strong culture of critique and communication, the firm is looking to ramp up its operations to meet the high influx of new projects.
POSITION SUMMARY
The firm is looking to bolster its Revit template and detail library. It is seeking an individual who has experience in delivering a completed project in Revit and understands the nuances of the software to aid in improving company standards. The BIM Specialist will be working with knowledgeable professionals, all of whom will contribute to the conversation and reflect upon processes that worked well and those that need improvement. It will be your task to synthesize these conversations and fold the salient points into a reusable template. In addition to updating standards, you would assist staff with software on an as-needed basis. Once the standards are completed to a satisfactory level, we see this specialist joining a project team and contributing to the design/documentation process.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Must haves
- Minimum 5+ years of post-bachelor degree Architecture firm experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or another related field
- Self-starter prepared to take the initiative to follow through
- Meticulous, well-organized, clear thinker with excellent time management skills
- Demonstrated expertise with Autodesk Revit, BIM 360 and related software and add-ins, with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience using the software
- Experience coordinating digital design models with consultants and contractors
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact and work well across all levels of the organization
- Integrating BIM with Project Delivery, drawing sets, standardization, integration
- Patience when assisting other team members with troubleshooting and software challenges
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
Nice to haves
- Experience at all project phases – Programing, SD, DD, CDs, CA
- Experience with different project types and sectors – Residential, Commercial/Institutional, Hospitality, Exhibit, etc
- Understanding of specification integration (Materials, Assemblies, Tagging)
- Experience BIM as a deliverable, at minimum, understand the direction of the industry – model as a deliverable
