Description
– This role will employ your experience and/or education in battery development or the development of battery powered devices and electrical/electronics engineering to support safety engineering and standardized testing of innovative consumer products. – In this role, you will apply a deep understanding of Battery design, testing, manufacturing, and integration towards the qualification and commercialization of modules designed for Apple’s world-class products. – We expect you to comprehend, interpret, apply, and use Battery Safety international and regional standards to guide, drive, and validate Apple designs. – We will rely on you to advise and influence the course of new designs, develop, refine, and execute Safety test plans and qualifications needed to evaluate design conformance to international, regional, and Apple-internal specifications.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical or equivalent engineering degree in a field where safety and compliance are critical design concerns (e.g. medical)
- 8+ years of experience in battery safety engineering or battery pack design
- Ability to curate data, analyze and present findings to cross-functional teams.
- Ability to identify and utilize first-principles to drive experimentation, design and failure analysis.
- Ability to perform detail-oriented work. This includes experience conducting DFMEA (design failure modes and effects analysis).
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Battery Cell Development or Battery system engineering or related field (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering)
