ATTRIBUTES
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for routine interaction with staff, patients and visitors
- Completion of a NYS approved Dental Assistant Licensure Qualifying Program preferred.
- Dental Assistant Certification preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Dental Assistance. Prepare dental supplies necessary for each patient; anticipate dentist needs for instrumentation and materials during the procedural treatment on the patient; assist with x-rays, fillings and positioning suction tubes
- Sterilization & Maintenance. Clean and sterilize all dental instruments following proper procedures
- Documentation & Coordination. Maintain all patient records and update as necessary
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS M – Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

SUMMARY
Learning how to be a great nurse extends far beyond the classroom. Our EXCEL program is designed specifically for nursing students. Rochester Regional Health is dedicated to providing outstanding experiences to nursing students in the Rochester area. As an EXCEL Nurse Intern at Rochester General Hospital, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, Clifton Springs Hospital, you will work as a patient care technician, side by side with an experienced nurse, to put the skills, knowledge and lessons you’ve learned into practice.
The internship provides nursing students with vital experience that will enhance the remainder of their college education and assist in their transition into the nursing profession.

- Enrollment in an accredited ASN or BSN program required
- Completion of 2 clinical rotations preferred
- Graduating December 2023 or May 2024
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patient Care & Service. Provide direct patient care & indirect activities to facilitate unit functioning; provide safe and competent care for patients with relationship to nutrition, skin integrity, elimination & hygiene needs; take patient vital signs; ensure equipment and all facilities are clean and stocked with appropriate supplies
- Admission & Transfer of Patients. Assist with admission, discharge and transfer of patients
