This position serves as an assistant to the Finance Officer for the department. The Accountant 4 provides high-level leadership in all areas of accounting and fiscal operations, including, but not limited to the management of internal controls and fiscal policies, federal award guidance, appropriation budget management, cost allocation, single audit coordination, revenue management and analysis, indirect revenue analysis, balance sheet and fund balance reconciliation, financial projections, and reporting.

The working conditions you can expect:
This position is located in the State Office Building in downtown Juneau. Our office is centrally located and has recently-updated furnishing. Covered and uncovered parking is available in the area.
The incumbent can expect regular interaction with the DAS Finance team and frequent interaction with the Department of Administration, Division of Finance and DCCED division staff located throughout the state via teleconference, TEAMS, and in person. Hybrid telework options in the Juneau area may be available. The work environment is friendly, professional, and collaborative.
Who we are looking for:
-Principles of Accounting: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices (for example, double entry accounting, accrual accounting), including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of work sheets, financial statements, ledgers, and journals description
-Accounting Operations: Knowledge of general ledger accounting and the control/subsidiary account relationships and reconciliation techniques, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and disbursing officer’s accountability.
-Financial Systems: Knowledge of the standards, architecture, and specifications of automated financial systems, including source documents, system flows, system interfaces, and related internal controls.
-Reasoning: Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes financial information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions.Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities in accounting, budgeting, or financial management, equivalent to those typically gained by:
a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related area of study, and two (2) years of responsible professional experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial management, preferably in the public sector.

When calculating education to experience equivalents:
Undergraduate credits: 2.67 sem/4 qtr hrs = 1 month
Associate Degree = 2 years
Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years
Graduate credits: 2 sem/3 qtr hrs = 1 month
Master’s Degree = 5 years
